Welcome to the Oopsie Heroes blog! Here you will find information about subjects related to bedwetting and some useful tips and tricks. We start of this blog by talking about "Dry Rules".

So what are Dry Rules? Dry Rules are a set of rules which you as a parent can go through together with your child before he or she is going to sleep. These rules will help to create the right mind set before going to sleep which in turn will help your child to get better and faster results. Below you will find an example of a set of Dry Rules:

  • Did I do Pee-Rest-Pee?
  • Is the alarm connected?
  • Is the app activated?
  • Do I have the alarm sound in my head?
  • Say to yourself: "If the alarm goes off, I get up immediately and go to the toilet"
  • Say to yourself: "If I wake up by myself, I go to the toilet to urinate"

Let's go a bit more into detail. Pee-Rest-Pee is a method to make sure the bladder is fully empty before going to sleep. First, let your child go to the toilet before going to bed, for example after brushing his or her teeth.

Then rest. You could read a nice story together for example. After reading the story, let your child go to the toilet one more time, this way the bladder surely is fully empty before going to sleep.

Checking if the alarm is connected and if the app is activated helps to remind your child that there is a device which helps them to wake up during the night. By remembering the alarm sound (or repeating it a few more times), the child is reminded of the alarm sound which will help him or her to wake up quicker from the alarm sound.

By saying the last two rules out loud, the child will know exactly what to do in case of an "Oopsie moment" or in case your child wakes up by him or herself.

That's it for this time! We hope you'll find these tips useful!

Best,
The Oopsie Heroes Team
